African American Art Alliance

The African American Art Alliance (AAAA) was established in 1990 when Dorothy Nelle Sanders answered the Museum’s call for ideas to accompany a major exhibition of African American art. Mrs. Sanders enlisted the assistance of Mrs. Lucinda J. Gordon and Mrs. Gloria Wright to form this Milwaukee Art Museum support group. Together, these local Milwaukee women launched a committee that continues to raise money for the acquisition of African American art for the collection of the Milwaukee Art Museum.
